To all our customers – new and old – Everyone at the Island Lake wishes you a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
We look forward to seeing you in the new season of 2012………..
Following the closedown of the 2011 season, we fished the lake to see how it would fare in November. The fish were very active and feeding well which resulted in 5 catches for me – 42lb, 44lb, 46lb, 54lb and 56lb. The 54lb was recorded as being caught before in May this year at 48lb and the 56lb was also recorded as having been caught at 49lb in April.
For this reason and due to popular demand for spaces on the lake, we have decided to trial opening the lake for an extra 3 weeks in 2012. The weather is a little colder but we feel confident that anglers will have the opportunity to try and catch some of the lakes residents at their top weights.
Prices remain at £280.00 per angler or £2500.00 for an exclusive booking but will are extending the rod limit from 3 to 4.
Any booking enquiries can be made by contacting Mick on 07908 999551.
We are very pleased to announce another record breaking fish coming out of the Island Lake this week – the very lucky Andy Loureiro caught a beautiful mirror weighing in at 79lb 12oz – it is the same fish caught last month by Dave Baldry but has since put on weight. Well done to Andy – a wonderful way to close the season (although there is still time until next week to break records – anything is possible!).
Here at the Island Lake we are pleased to report this week that one of our amazing records has been smashed again. The very lucky Dave Baldry has just caught a mirror weighing in at 76lb – a truly wonderful moment. This was a personal best for Dave and excellent new for the Lake – well done Dave.
We look forward to posting the pictures very soon……….
The new season work party kicked off on 12th March with a 7 strong gang who had a great week tackling a number of jobs on the lake. The remaining cabins have all been re-felted and painted and each swim now has it’s own weighing station. All the shower blocks have been overhauled, pumped through and cleaned ready for our first guests. Additionally, a large part of the week was spent on cutting and dragging the weed – hard graft but very rewarding!
The re-opening of the Island Lake is only 3 months away and plans are already in place for the second work party to be on site 2 weeks prior to opening to finish off the work carried out in November. The lake is already fully booked for 2011 and our aim is make the fishing experience for our visitors even better than last year.
Here are some of the changes and improvements that were made during the last work party……………..
