Carp Stock
The most important issue in any top carp venue is the stock. At present The Island Lake holds over 200 carp which have been carefully stocked. Over the last 3 years we have had three different stocking programmes where we have replaced smaller fish under 30lbs with larger specimens and the average weight is now 40lbs. There are approximately 25 different 50lbs+ carp residing in The Island Lake but our most cherished prizes are 4 x 60lbs carp, one of which is a Common weighing 64.lb.9oz and the biggest Mirror is the lake record of 71.lbs .This fish was 62.lbs 12 months ago – it just goes to show that these fish are putting on some good weights.
Most of the carp are all young fish so there is plenty of time for them to grow bigger each year.
